In their own words... PLEASE.

I was listening to U2's Pride in the Name of Love today and started thinking about Martin Luther King... and then Abraham Lincoln. And I got to thinking WHY DOESN'T ANYONE WRITE THINGS WORTH ARCHIVING ANYMORE??? Both of these gentlemen (and some others) wrote brilliant works of literature that move us even today. Where have these people gone?

I read on a news site that Peggy Noonan was back writing speeches for the upcoming Republican convention. Does that make sense? Some guys are going to read her work and pretend like it is their own. How can they sleep? Why aren't they writing their own stuff? Isn't that cheating? It is deception if nothing else.

And that goes for Mr Kerry and Mr Bush, too. It's not enough to approve what has been written for you. If you read a speech, either make sure it was written by you, or tell us it was written for you.

All this just adds to my already cynical beliefs that politicians think we're just a bunch of idiots. (harumph!)
