The media is wrong about the Muslim nations!

They have to be.

From the Phillipines to Chechnya to Iraq to Saudi Arabia to Israel to the genocidal killing fields of the Sudan, those Islamic fundies are doing an amazing amount of killing of noncombatant non-Muslim innocents, all of which they justify as holy and sanctioned by Allah.

Since it isn't holy, since, as far as what I have been told, the Koran is a book of love, and Islam is all about compassion and helping your neighbor, there must be some Islamic government or high-level religious spokesperson (make that spokeman) who is speaking out against all the killings, the suicide bombings, the downing of planes, the kidnappings, the torture, and the beheadings.

But I see none anywhere. So it must be the media who is deceiving us. There must be some conspiracy to misrepresent the fundamentalists and the completely hide from us the condemning response by the leaders of Islam to the killing of thousands of non-Muslims at the hands of these fundamentalists.

The media must be holding back.

They must be.

Right?

Although I certinly agree we don't see nearly enough of this.

We all know certain individuals can twist a religion to suit their own agendas. Like the pharaises did in Jesus' time.

I think that the media set the record straight pretty darn well after 9/11. It just that so much of our population is non-Muslim that no one really feels too big of a need to reinterate this point. The Islamic nations are the ones with the agenda, and they are capable of controlling quite well what people think through government dominated media. Even the people who don't buy all this fundamentalist stuff have a hard time getting their voices heard through all the propaganda.

Of course, if we really wanted to know more about Islam, we could always just read the Koran. Something I hope to get around to one of these days. http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/toc/modeng/public/HolKora.html

With all due respect (and no intention of personal attack), this is one of the most ignorant statements I have heard. Both assertions are completely false.

1) "Them dang Mohammadan nations don't never condemn terrorism". Even in the American media itself (which, as you may not have realised, has its own biases and agendas, as every other one does), news reached us of the sincere condolences from countless Muslim nations after 9-11. In addition, the constitutions of most Arab nations (I would venture to say all) officially condemn violent attacks on civilians.
2) "The Muslim world wants to attack us with terrorists, because them's all fundamentalists themselves!" That seems to be your point, anyway--yet many of the nations you mentioned have either secular governments (pre-invaded Iraq) or non-Islamic governments (Chechnya). Your branding of the entire nations just because fundamentalists happen to exist within their borders is horribly simple-minded...it would be like equating the American people with Ted Kaczynski and abortion clinic-bombers.

I would tend to respectfully suggest that you refrain from acting cocky regarding subjects as this one on which you are obviously not well-read, but I suppose you did qualify all these blogs as "personal venting" rather than "official posts" on the website-proper.
